Almost quilted

Threading up my bobbins with pretty green thread got me thinking about how much quilting I was about to embark upon. I know you shouldn’t do the maths, but hey….so I have worked out 2520 inches, which is 64 metres and that is before I consider whether I do vertical rows as well. Heehee better get a wriggle on…

Oh dear my machine needs a little dust…anyhow…Ready set go….

{curves} class

For those of you that know me well, I am not starting a gym class. Me and fitness…no way!

What did my friend Sally send me this week….

“If you stitch fast enough does it count as aerobic excercise?”

Much, much more exciting Stitched in Color’s 5 week course on sewing with Curves. If you haven’t seen Rachel Hauser’s blog then do yourself a favour and pop on over. Every post is wonderful and she is inspirational. Thank you Rachel, can’t wait to be part of the classes.

It will be a busy few weeks with a trip home to Melbourne, kids on school break for a week and then our second Little Red Market at my place again on 25th Feb. Lots of new designers and artists along with some of the last faces from our November one. Very exciting times finding clever talent in Kuala Lumpur. Hmmmm I may have over commited but fingers crossed.

Anyway…off to see what our first challenge is.

Rachel's Mod Bud Journal {Project}

small plates quilting

Yay! I am back on with my wordpress issues. Can now upload photos again!

I’ve had a few little interruptions over the weekend with my littlest wanting to make a fabric envelope and secret letter from the book, Kids’ Crafternoon Sewing, that her Granma brought her. She is getting very good at sewing. Does it all by herself on my Bernina. The idea was that my old Janome was to be the kids’ sewing machine so I could keep sewing while they decided on their new project, however the Bernina is so much more friendly speed wise. Their little hands can control the fabric easily, so I am finding that little plan of “mummy’s” sewing machine and “kids” sewing machine not quite going to plan…..Photos to follow of Laura’s project…

I am however, nearly finished my first quilting job for 2012. Lots of lines crossing over each other. I am liking the little intersections they make on the edges of each block.

Here’s a sneak peek at the process…

Enjoy your week,

Melissa x
